Thousands of learners ‘jump into’ swim teaching this summer

Latest News

Thousands of new and existing swimming teachers have taken the plunge this summer with Swim England Qualifications.

Inspired by the National Governing Body’s ‘Jump into Teaching Swimming’ campaign, learners collectively participated in almost 350 courses throughout June, July and August.

In fact, more than 250 separate locations across England and Wales hosted courses thanks to SEQ’s network of high quality Approved Training Centres.

The ‘Jump into Teaching Swimming’ campaign saw Swim England Qualifications reach out to budding swimming teachers with a new 2019 prospectus, providing details on the Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) and Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualifications.

The booklet was handed out to swimmers, parents and supporters at the Swim England National Summer Meet at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge, along with last month’s Open Water National Age Group Championships – and is now also available to view online.

In addition, the campaign has been rolled out across social media, including the hugely popular Swimming Qualifications (Swim England) Facebook group – a forum of 8,000 members of the aquatics family.

Super summer for swim teaching

The 2019 Swim England Qualifications video has also proven to be an inspiration, with existing teachers and assistants explaining why and how they moved into their dream career.

Simon Stevens, Head of Swim England Qualifications, said: “What a fantastic summer it has been for swim teaching, with thousands of new swimming assistants and teachers completing their Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.

“From Newcastle to Plymouth, and Lowestoft to Swansea, Swim England Approved Training Centres have hosted more than 300 courses this summer – and that’s without mentioning overseas locations such as Dubai and South Africa!

“Our congratulations go to all the swimming teachers and assistants who have gained qualifications this summer.”
