Swim England Safeguarding CPD ‘reflects needs of our sports’

Latest News

Set for launch on April 6, Swim England’s new Safeguarding CPD has been developed by the National Governing Body’s Child Safeguarding, Qualifications and Educator Training teams.

The result? An in-depth and relevant CPD created specifically for aquatics teachers and coaches.

The course will be available as an online session to complete from home – and is focused on aquatics, as Jenni Dearman, Swim England’s National Child Safeguarding Manager, explained.

“The CPD has been written for any role within our sports that requires an enhanced DBS disclosure,” she said.

Access safeguarding advice

“The course is relevant whatever your role within our sports rather than being tailored to coaching or teaching. That was a key area raised in the feedback received about non Swim England courses.

“The Swim England Safeguarding CPD is bespoke and reflects the needs of our sports.”

Learners will gain an insight into safeguarding issues, how to deal with those concerns and how to access support and advice.

The CPD will also be accepted for club SwimMark submissions and is an integral part of Swim England’s Stronger Affiliation process. This introduces new measures for affiliated clubs aimed at ensuring the safety of members.
