Swim England Safeguarding CPD endorsed by CIMSPA

Swim England’s Continuous Professional Development Programmes (CPDs) for safeguarding training are now endorsed by CIMSPA.

A range of qualifications are mapped against the Chartered Institute of the Management for Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA)’s professional standards to ensure educational products meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for job roles within the sector.

The Swim England Safeguarding Training CPD, which is also endorsed against CIMSPA’s Safeguarding and Protecting Children Professional Standard, will see individuals receive three CIMSPA points.

These points can then be used towards their CIMSPA membership to evidence continuing professional development.

This CPD course is for swimming teachers, coaches and other club personnel covered by Wavepower.

Its aim is to provide individuals with an understanding of their duty and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children within their organisation.

This includes an insight into safeguarding issues, how to deal with those concerns and how to access support and advice.

Proud to have CIMSPA endorsement

The training is designed to be engaging throughout and guarantees that individuals obtain up-to-date knowledge and tools to put safeguarding into practice.

Caroline Neal, Swim England Qualifications Development Officer, said: “Here at Swim England Qualifications we are proud to have our products endorsed by CIMSPA.

“They are the institute for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector and the guardian of professional and apprenticeships standards framework for the sector.”

The Safeguarding CPD reflects Wavepower, Swim England’s child safeguarding policy and procedures publication.

It is also an integral part of the Stronger Affiliation process, which introduces new measures for affiliated clubs aimed at ensuring the safety of members.
