Swim England Safeguarding Training Guidance

Swim England have updated their safeguarding training requirements for all members who require a DBS check as part of their role in aquatics and in accordance with Wavepower.

Safeguarding is a mandatory requirement for swimming teachers, coaches and relevant club personnel within Swim England affiliated clubs or activities and is an integral part of the Club Affiliation process.

If you do not hold a Swim England Safeguarding certificate, or you hold a Swim England Safeguarding or previously approved Safeguarding certificate older than three years, you will need to attend a core (three hour) Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics course. At the three year expiry of this course you should then complete the online refresher course which in turn lasts for three years. On expiry of your refresher course you will be required to complete the core (three hour) Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics course again therefore allowing the training to move in a six-year cycle.

If you currently hold a Swim England Safeguarding certificate issued within the last three years you should complete an online refresher course at your certificates expiry date which in turn lasts for three years. On expiry of your refresher course you will be required to complete the core (three hour) Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics course again therefore allowing the training to move in a six-year cycle.
