Coaching para swimmers in a mainstream coaching environment

This workshop is designed to give coaches an overview of the potential barriers to participation and integration, the practical implications and considerations and potential adaptations that could be undertaken to ensure the effectiveness of coaching para-swimmers in a mainstream environment.

The CPD is for any coach or assistant coach who is coaching para swimmers.

Integrating autistic children into mainstream swimming lessons

This workshop will equip you with the basic knowledge required to effectively interact with and teach autistic children within a swimming lesson.

Teaching aquatics to children with learning difficulties

This workshop provides an introduction and overview of common barriers to learning. It explains conditions, syndromes and disorders and gives strategies for managing behaviour, helping non-specialist swimming teachers working with a class containing one or two pupils with special needs.

To give Level 1 and Level 2 teachers an understanding of integrating disabled swimmers into mainstream swimming lessons and highlight ways that teaching practices can be adapted to ensure that disabled swimmers get the best from the learn to swim or school swimming environment.

The visually imapired friendly swimming online CPD will assist anyone who is delivering swimming activities with support, ideas and guidance on how to include people with a visual impairment.

Deaf friendly swimming

The National Deaf Children’s Society and Swim England have teamed up to create this resource. The deaf friendly swimming online CPD is an excellent tool for teachers and coaches to learn how to teach and coach a deaf swimmer and ensure that deaf and hard of hearing young people, are fully supported in accessing swimming sessions.

The CPD is for Swim England Level 2 swimming teachers and coaches.

Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) in Swimming

This CPD has been designed to equip attendees with the necessary tools and strategies required to teach swimming to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). During the course you will take part in practical workshops and learn how to communicate effectively with children who have a range of difficulties including; physical or sensory difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties, speech and language needs and autism.

Attendees will learn basic sign language, design and make symbols and communication aids and will take away an enhanced knowledge and understanding of a broad range of SEND.

The CPD is for Swim England Level 1 or 2 swimming teachers, or Level 2 coaches.
