New combined swim teaching course has ‘all bases covered’December 5, 2019 Latest News
Learners will soon be able to gain THREE Swim England (SEQ) qualifications on the same combined course – for the first time.
The Excellent Performance Team is offering students the chance to combine their SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching), SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming, and SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming to Babies and Toddlers qualifications into one course.
Taking place at Hartsdown Leisure Centre in Margate, the first course begins on Sunday, January 12 and concludes on Sunday, March 22.
With learners able to embark on any combination of one, two or three qualifications, it offers true flexibility to aspiring swimming teachers.
Ellie Purvis, of the Approved Training Centre, said: “Learners will have the opportunity to achieve three SEQ qualifications together for the first time.
“The duration of this combined course is ten days which are spread throughout January and March. Over that period students are also able to volunteer within their own setting to gain additional experience and put into practice the skills they have been taught.”
Outlining the benefits of this approach, Ellie added: “Students will immediately be able to cover all the main roles across a swim school.
“They will have all the skills they require, which is great for the students. It’s also fantastic for swim schools and leisure operators who have employees entering their organisation with all bases covered.”
Combined course provides full skill-set
The SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming to Babies and Toddlers qualification was launched in May, and is proving a popular addition to the industry.
“Level 1 and Level 2 cover stages 1-7 of the Swim England Learn to Swim programme. With the enhanced qualification this covers the pre-school aspect of the programme too,” remarked Ellie.
“So you have that full skill-set, you add that flexibility for your employer, and you can immediately specialise in the pre-school area of the industry if you wish.
“We’re getting plenty of enquiries about the Babies and Toddlers qualification. It’s definitely an area of growth as more parents look to ensure their children are confident, happy and safe in the water.”
